These drives use a small ribbon cable to connect to a ZIF socket on the drive and the PC system bus.
Connectivity using this ribbon cable is quite difficult and care should be taken when making the connection. There is a black plastic strip that runs along the connection - this should be lifted before insertion and then pushed back flush one the cable has been inserted.
